Samsung Galaxy S III Launches In Lekki And Ikeja Shopping Malls, Lagos, Nigeria

Sometime in May, 2012, I wrote a review on Samsung Galaxy S III UK Release Date and Features. It will interest you to know that the long expected smartphone has finally been launched in Nigeria, which simply means that Samsung Galaxy S III is now available in Nigeria.

The device was formally launched at Samsung Brand Shops at The Palms Shopping Mall in Lekki and Ikeja Shopping Mall, in Alausa, Ikeja, all in Lagos. The Galaxy S III phone is the latest generation of the very popular Galaxy II, which was critical to Samsung overtaking Nokia to become the world’s best-selling mobile phone maker. The Samsung Galaxy S III following its features and technology was chosen by Visa as a pioneer mobile payment platform for the 2012 London Olympic games.

The Head, Corporate Marketing, Samsung Electronics,Donald Etim, during the device launch on Saturday, said that the Samsung Galaxy S III was designed to respond intuitively and naturally to human use and interaction.

“Once again, we are putting the ‘Next Big Thing’ in the hands of consumers. The Galaxy S III introduces a completely new way of sharing and socialising that no other mobile phone can. The device essentially balances ergonomics with intuitive use, making it an extension of the user,” he said.

Earlier this year, Samsung Electronics ranked N0.1 in smartphone shipment and it has still been on the chart since it overtook Apple Incorporated in the last quarter of last year to become the world’s largest smartphone vendor amid a widening technology and legal battle between the two companies.

During the period, Samsung shipped 27.8 million smartphones, taking 23.8 per cent of the market, according to the United Kingdom- based renowned research consultancy, Strategy Analytics. Apple’s 17.1 million shipments, comprising 14.6 per cent of the market, pushed the Apple to second place, the firm said, adding that Nokia maintained its third position.
