If you want the benefits and functionality of a smartphone, but don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on one, you are now in luck. Thanks to the upcoming release of the LG Lucid, owning a smartphone is now more affordable than ever.
The LG Lucid, which is a 4G Android smartphone equipped with LTE, will be available through Verizon Wireless starting March 29th. And the best part about this phone is that it can be purchased through Verizon Wireless stores or the Verizon Wireless website for only $79.99 (after a $50 mail-in rebate) if you agree to a two-year contract.
Some people may worry that since the LG Lucid is priced so cheap that it will be cheaply made and lack the functionality of more expensive smartphones. Though it may not pack all the punch of the best Android smartphone, it can hold its own against the more expensive versions, and it also has some bragging rights. It comes with a fancy display.
The LG Lucid comes packed with an IPS display and a brilliant 4-inch screen. This display features Gorilla Glass and contains an 800×480 resolution.Check out its strong specs.
The LG Lucid is comprised of a 1.2Gz dual-core processor and comes standard with 1GB of RAM. It also contains Bluetooth 3.0, 1700mAh battery, USB 2.0, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and a Micro USB charging port. Say cheese.
This newest addition to the Android family also has a 5-megapixel rear camera as well as a front-facing video chat camera. Along with pictures, the LG Lucid is also enabled for HD video recording. It includes usable shortcuts.
The best part about smartphones is their ability to do a lot, but sometimes accessing apps or tools can be a real pain, especially if we have a lot of them. Luckily, the LG Lucid has shortcuts on their lock screen that enables users to quickly and easily access voicemail or their camera.
It also possesses the Quick Reply feature. If someone is calling the LG Lucid user and the user is unable to answer the call, the Quick Reply feature allows them to send a text message to the person who is calling to let them know why they cannot answer.
Quick Reply allows users to set up standard responses, so there is no need to type. The only downside to the LG Lucid is that it currently runs on 2.3 Gingerbread instead of the new 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. (It is rumored that Verizon plans on upgrading it in the future.)
The LG Lucid should be considered a mid-grade smartphone, as it packs some great features and functionalities, but it lacks the Ice Cream Sandwich and other tools that are standard in the more expensive models. But if you’re looking for the functionality and features of a smartphone without spending a fortune, and you are fine with using Gingerbread until the upgrade is launched, then purchasing the LG Lucid should be added to your “to-do” list right away.
