How to Conduct Your GTBank(GTMobile) Transactions Directly on Your Mobile Phone

You can now conduct your GTbank transactions directly on your mobile via GTBank's unique product called "GTMobile" GTMobile is GTBank’s mobile banking platform that enables customers of the GTBank safely and easily conduct their banking transactions electronically via their mobile phones. With this mobile service, customers can now make payment to other services such as DStv, PHCN and Mobile phone postpaid payments.
GTBank has simplified the usage of this product by integrating it to customer's MasterCard with the provision of enhanced security based on Card Number, PIN, CVV and customer's phone number.

As at the time of this post, the following services were the services available on the GTMobile:

  • Balance inquiry

  • Mini statement

  • Funds transfer (Own account)

  • Airtime purchase

  • Bills payments (DSTV, PHCN & ZAIN postpaid)

  • Hotlist ATM card


How to Get Started

To start making payment from your mobile phone, you need to first download GTMobile on your mobile phone or PC. When you get to the download page, you will be required to type in your phone number, your phone vendor and phone model.
Note: For you to download GTMobile, your phone must meet the following requirements:

  • Java SMS version (a.k.a WMAPI) – version 1.0

  • Java Configuration version (a.k.a CLDC) – version 1.0

  • Java Platform version (a.k.a MIDP) – version 2.0

  • Mobile Phone Color Resolution (e.g. 16bit)

  • Java Application Storage Size - 120kb

  • General Packet Radio Service(GPRS) capability


When you have successfully downloaded and installed the GTMobile on your phone do the following to get your MasterCard registered:

  1. select your network from the drop-down menu provided to register your mobile number

  2. Enter your number 080*******. If you have a 070******* number, click backspace to clear 080 and type in your number

  3. Re-Type the number and click on "Confirm" to move to the next stage to register your Card

  4. The application takes you to the menu, click on  > wallet > > card management > > add card >, and fill in the following details:



  • Card Name e.g JacksonNwachukwu (please avoid spaces between names eg Stella maris) A nickname can also suffice here e.g Jaydee.

  • Card No e.g. 5399***********7

  • Account - Current or Savings (the account that is attached to your card).

  • Default Card

  • Expiry Month - Aug

  • Expiry Year - 2010


When you are done click on "Register". This will take you to the 'confirmation' page
After confirming the details, click 'OK'
Once you click "OK" you will receive the message "Allow application to send message through the internet". Click 'Yes' if you are GPRS enabled

If GPRS fails, the SMS fail-over system will process the message "attempting to send message to either '23470******' or '30***'". Click 'Yes' to proceed.
You will receive an SMS reading "Your payment card was registered successfully. Your debit card will be activated".

After your MasterCard has been successfully registered, you will need to wait for 24hours for it to be activated. During this period, you will be unable to conduct transactions until your card has been activated.  Once your card is activated, you will receive the following SMS "Your card (62778701**********7) has been activated".


Note: The GTMobile application runs on GPRS/SMS, which means that you will need have an airtime on your phone to get this working after activation.
