A person runs a search in a search engine comes up with listing of websites. He clicks on the link in the listing to a website. He finds on the landing page of the website nothing that he is looking for. He hits the back button and return to the search result page to try another website listed there. He just wasted his time all because the website he clicked on had tricked the search engine into listing it on its result page.
Generating traffic is half the job of running a webpage, costing you time and money. The second half of the job is fulfilling the needs of your webpage’s audience. Only by meeting each person’s need can you truly growing traffic to your webpage. Otherwise the traffic you are paying for just keeps burning itself out. You have to generate the traffic all over again. People are just coming and going.
What you really want is for people to come to your webpage, and then come again on their own without a search. You want people to bookmark your page in their web browser. People only bookmark web pages they find valuable. Understand that surfing the web is like hunting for treasure. You can never be sure of what you will find when you land on webpage. You must make people feeling that they found it, treasure. They found want they were searching for. Then you must give them each person something more, something greater than what the person was looking for. You need every web surfer to leave your webpage saying, “wow!”
Have Passion
You must find some purpose. It must be a calling from high above, or your life’s work. Think of the restaurant guy. Every major city in the world has a guy who love eating out and writing a blog about it. This guy is different from a restaurant critic. He is out in restaurants 4 to 5 days a week enjoying eating. You just know he is going to die one day from eating all of those rich dishes. Yet reading this guy’s blog is like hearing about a party. You can not help yourself from returning to the guy’s webpage because you love his passion.
Or just Wow Them
If you are finding it hard to be passionate about your webpage, then try using a widget, or add-on to create a wow! Do not just add a widget without weighing how the widget will affect your audience. The add-on should make people want to come to your webpage to use it. Think of your audience and their needs, because picking the right add-on that fits your audience will create return traffic. That is what you want? You want people to bookmark your webpage, and get their friends to come to your webpage. You want a person returning to your webpage 6 to 10 times a month, which is far more valuable and cheaper than generating new traffic.
