Android is not a phone

Almost every week I have to correct the misconception that most people that I come in contact with have about Android. The general belief is that because the iPhone is a device, Android must mean any touchscreen phone that is not an iPhone; right? Wrong!

Android is an operating system that is used to power some phones. Examples of phones that run Android are the popular Samsung Galaxy Series which consists of some very popular ones like the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note.

Mobile operating systems (OS) are simply software that power mobile phones. To enhance your knowledge on Android and how it runs you can check Android on Wikipedia and Mobile Operating systems .

No; Android is not a phone.
