A few weeks back, rumors had it that MTN Nigeria was about to launch their own version of the increasingly popular BlackBerry Complete with a measly 200MB monthly data allowance for a whooping N1,500.

Despite public outcry, the nutjobs went ahead and released it to the public a few days back and boys (especially me) are not smiling at all.

For N1,500 a month or N500 a week with 200MB and 50MB data allowance respectively, MTN Nigeria’s BlackBerry Complete Plans offer you the following:

1. The ability to create and use only one (1) BlackBerry email address (i.e. username@mtnnigeria.blackberry.com).


2. Full integration and use of only one (1) third party email account like Yahoo, GMail & Hotmail.


3. Internet access up to 200MB (monthly) and 50MB (weekly)


4. Full access to Social Networks like Twitter and Facebook.


5. Full access to Instant Messaging Services like Yahoo Messenger, GTalk and Windows Messenger as well as BlackBerry Messenger Instant Messaging Service.

For how long do these “Everywhere You Go” maniacs  plan on ripping us off? Their tariffs remain one of the most expensive in the country despite being the most successful mobile network and having a strong hold of close to 50% of the mobile market on Nigeria.

I’m most certainly not one of their blackberry subscribers but if I were unfortunately so, what the heck am I supposed to do with 200MB of data with all the music, video and software that I tend to download monthly?
